Burning Man Camp Proposal: Camp Waterboarding

Stay Hydrated or Else

2/28/2025

Another Happy Endings Venture
"An Oasis of Thirst and Terror"

Theme & Vibe

  • A tongue-in-cheek "extreme hydration experience", where guests are relentlessly "waterboarded" with luxury hydration services. Think fancy electrolyte cocktails, misting stations, and aggressive hydration interventions.

  • The camp is designed like a black-site interrogation facility, but instead of torture, it's an over-the-top spa retreat.

  • Staff dressed as ominous "interrogators" (in Hawaiian shirts, because it's Burning Man) who force people to drink premium water, whether they like it or not.

Signature Experiences

  1. The Full Waterboarding Treatment

    • Guests are "captured" (willingly, obviously) and strapped to reclining chairs.

    • Instead of actual torture, they get an intense, spa-like hydration session:

      • Ice-cold towels

      • Hydration IV drips (fake or real, depending on legality and consent)

      • Oxygen therapy

      • Coconut water poured into their mouths at inconvenient times

      • ASMR of dripping water for full psychological effect

  2. Aqua-Interrogation Room

    • A game where guests are blindfolded and must answer absurdly philosophical or deeply personal questions before being "rewarded" with hydration (a refreshing drink, a splash of water, or a full misting).

    • If they hesitate too long, their "hydration levels" drop, and they are given "enhanced interrogation techniques" like surprise foot massages or an uncomfortable amount of compliments.

  3. The Dehydration Chamber

    • A sauna-style sweat lodge where people can “experience the opposite” before being aggressively rehydrated.

    • Encourages people to feel the contrast between thirst and relief, just like life itself (but mostly as an excuse to lounge and sweat out toxins).

  4. Waterboarding Happy Hour

    • Signature cocktails, mocktails, and infused waters served in bizarre ways—like camelback-style IV drips, oversized baby bottles, or literal waterboarding trays where you sip lying down.

Visual Aesthetic

  • A mix of brutalist black-site aesthetics with ridiculous luxury spa elements.

  • "Interrogators" in aviator sunglasses and suits with hydration packs on their backs, like dystopian waiters.

  • Signs that say things like "You have the right to remain quenched."

Why It Works for Burning Man

  • A satirical twist on real-world horrors that flips the script into an absurd, fun, and memorable experience.

  • Water is sacred at Burning Man—why not worship it in the weirdest way possible?

  • It’s interactive, high-concept, and has an inherent "WTF is happening here?" appeal.
