Functional art for rats (and the humans who love them)

Some people buy décor.
Some people buy fashion.
I buy thrift-store blankets and canvas jackets and turn them into rat playgrounds — and honestly, it’s way more fun.

The idea started simple: my rats needed enrichment, warmth, and exploration. Cages alone aren’t enough. Blankets alone aren’t enough. Then it clicked — what if clothing and décor became the playground?

🧵 What these pieces are

Each piece starts with recycled fabrics — thrift-store blankets, hoodies, denim, canvas, and anything durable enough to be abused by teeth and claws.

Then they’re painted and sewn into dimensional structures with:

  • Pant legs and sleeves → burrows / tunnels

  • Pockets and hoods → hideouts / nap caves

  • Grommets and straps → hang it like a curtain or wear it

  • Embedded chew toys → safe gnawing zones

  • Foraging loops + secret pouches → treat-hunt enrichment

They’re designed to be loved, destroyed, shredded, and rebuilt.
Not gallery art you protect — art that gets chewed to death.

I call them Rat Curtains (when hung)
and Creature Comfort Clothing (when worn).

🎨 The Art Style

Think:

  • Basquiat-meets-Madonna street-canvas energy (thank you Ryan Stewart, Chicago)

  • Japanese watercolor layers fading under claw-marks

  • 80s pop culture colors like Simon, Gameboy, and neon arcade grime

  • Warhol soup cans big enough for a rat to crawl inside

Not sterile.
Not minimalist.
Maximalist, playful, textured, and meant to deteriorate beautifully.

👕 Clothing version

Oversized hoodies / jackets with:

  • hidden tunnels between layers of fabric

  • pouch pockets for warmth

  • reinforced seams for claws

  • safety mesh windows in optional sections

  • modular attachments (yes — you can clip on more burrows)

Created for:

  • Rats

  • Ferrets

  • Prairie dogs

  • Pocket exotics
(Not marketed for cats — let's leave that for someone else.)

Perfect for remote workers, couch Netflix nights, cold apartments, and anyone who likes their animal kids close.

💡 Where this can go

I’m building this into a product line — maybe Etsy, maybe direct website, maybe consignment-style resale like Poshmark/Depop because people pay big for their pets/kids and there’s space for handmade enrichment art.

I need:

  • ✂️ sewers / fabric artists

  • 🎨 textile painters

  • 🔍 sourcing thrifters

  • 📦 shipping + order fulfillment

  • 👩‍💻 marketing help (Google / TikTok / Insta / pet influencers)

  • 🧠 designers who want to co-create themed builds from customer requests

And for accessibility:

  • Custom builds

  • Limited runs

  • More affordable premade pieces from recycled materials

🤝 Get involved

I’m open to:

  • Collaborators

  • Early customers

  • Shops that want to carry a piece

  • People who just like the energy and want to follow along

This is enrichment, fashion, and art meeting in the middle — built for animals who deserve more than a cage and a pellet.

If that resonates with you, reach out.
Let’s build warm tunnels, wild textures, and wearable rat playgrounds together.

All payments in Monero / XMR ONLY. NO USD involved. Nope. Figure it out.
